Ferraud “Raud” Manning Avery, 35, of Jamestown, North Carolina passed away unexpectedly on Thursday February 22, 2024 at his home. He was a proud husband, father, brother, son, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. Ferraud’s life will be celebrated on Friday, March 1st at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home on Gate City Blvd. in Greensboro at 2pm. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Thursday, February 29th at the same location.
Born on May 3, 1988 to Jamara and the late (Leonard) Bernard Avery, Raud was an avid basketball player and fan from an early age. He cheered enthusiastically for the Duke Blue Devils, the Golden State Warriors, and played competitively with an AAU team while growing up. Outside of basketball, Ferraud enjoyed being outdoors, especially at the beach or walking his dogs, other sports like soccer & football, and spending quality time with the people he loved.
Raud attended Oak Ridge Military Academy before graduating from Ragsdale High School in 2006. After high school, he studied and practiced the skillful art of welding, earning his certificate and becoming a Certified Welder (CW) for Mickey Truck Bodies as a Team Leader.
With a smile that lit up every room he entered and a laugh that was undeniably contagious, Ferraud was genuine, kind, and eternally positive. He made everyone he met feel like the most important person in the world – at least until you met him around his wife or kids. Raud was a compassionate family man who loved cheering on his home team more than anything. His selfless, unconditional love, optimism, and unwavering support will be felt by his family and friends forever.
Ferraud is survived by his loving wife Nicole and their children Alaina LaCoste (5) and Kai David (2); his mother Jamara Avery; his sister Brittani (Williams) Johnson and her husband Josh; and his grandmothers Mary Anderson and Earlene Bell. Other family members left to cherish his memory include Donna Reynolds, Bradley Reynolds and wife Jordan (David, 2, Ben, 2mo.), John Reynolds and wife Maria (Winnie, 7), Neill Reynolds and wife Molly, as well as many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.
