Florence Louise Touchstone

She was born June 22, 1920 in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Willie Wallace and Mildred Tichenor Caldwell. She was married to Thomas Read Touchstone for 53 years.

In 1944 she received her B.S. in Home Economics from Woman’s College (UNC-G). She served as secretary to the Director of Nursing at Moses H. Cone Hospital. Florence was a longtime member of College Park Baptist Church where she served in many volunteer positions. She served on the Greensboro Council of Garden Clubs and was a member of the Westridge Garden Club.

Florence is survived by her son, George E. Touchstone and wife Denise Benoit of Cambridge, MA; daughter, Mildred “Mid” T. Dohm and husband Gordon of Greenville, SC, and daughter Betty T. Lentz and husband Michael of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Donald Dohm and wife Christine, Elizabeth Rickwood and husband Chris, Jennifer D’Alba and husband Mark, and Michael Lentz, Jr. and wife Kirsten; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Patrick and Ryan Dohm, Carter and Zachary Rickwood, Parker Lentz, and Zerica D’Alba; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Read Touchstone, twin sister, Henrietta Caldwell Edwards and brother Oliver Caldwell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407 with Chaplain Misty McAden officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
