Born in Durham, NC on March 28, 1924, she was 101 years old. She worked in Greensboro, NC for Cone Mills and P. Lorillard. She retired in 1990. She attended St. Benedict Catholic Church. She loved taking care of her home, tending her flower gardens and watching the birds from her backyard swing. She was an artist who painted numerous birdhouses in her final years and excitedly gave them away to family and friends. She was a special lady: humble, caring and loved by all.
She is predeceased by her parents, Bartley A. and Rosa Turner and five siblings. She is survived by her three children: Nancy Land, Victor Kinney (Martha) and Marie Oakes; grandchildren, Michelle Savage, Kelly Martin and Andrea Cranford, five great grandchildren, Sarah (Hunter), Mollie (Stephen), Kierstin (Bryan), Chloe and Skyler and two great, great grandchildren, Grey and Gwyneth; sisters, Dorothy, Catherine (Dave), and Cecelia; and brother Tom (LaVerne).
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel starting at 1 pm. The funeral service will begin at 2 pm at St. Benedict Catholic Church, located beside Hanes Lineberry on the corner of Smith and Elm.
