Mr. Frank Dominic Marrara, Sr., 89, a native of Long Island, NY and a resident of Jamestown, NC for the last 20 years, passed away on Friday February 8, 2019 at the Hospice Home at High Point. He was born September 14, 1929 in Manhattan, New York, the youngest of 9 siblings of the late Dominic and Rosina Marrara.
Frank was a mechanical engineer with John Chattilon and Sons and retiring from Northrup-Grumman in NY where he worked in the aerospace program. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War where he served as a member of the Army Signal Corps. He was a devoted parishioner of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Frank was married for 56 years to Maria Mariano Marrara until she passed away on January 31, 2011.
Frank was the loving father, grandfather and great grandfather of 3 children, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Surviving are his daughters, Roseanne Murphy and husband Douglas of Plymouth, MA, Constance M. Murphy and husband Ronald of Jamestown, NC; and son, Frank D. Marrara, Jr. and wife Rosanne of Jamestown, NC. He was beloved by his large extended family, especially his brother In law and sister in law, Leonard and Doris Mariano of Franklin Square, NY and his many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive those wishing to offer their condolences on Saturday February 16, 2019 at The Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church 4145 Johnson St. High Point, NC 27265 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will follow officiated by the Reverend Thomas P. Norris OSFS. Entombment will then follow at Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Frank’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Dr. Charlotte, NC 28215 or to the Hospice of the Piedmont 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC 27262.
