

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Grace Church on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. with Father Fidel Melo and Father James Steurenberg officiating.
George was born in Fall River, MA to the late Lester F. Stratton and Mary Doyle Stratton. He graduated from Fairfield University and worked as Plant Manager of Chase Packaging Company in Buffalo, NY and Reidsville, NC. He was a former employee of Lowes of Greensboro.
He was a member of the Rotary Club and served on the Board of Directors in Reidsville. George was Chairman of the Parish Council at Holy Infant Church, Reidsville and Chairman of the Diocesan Pastoral Council.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Piedmont Council #939 and Past Faithful Navigator, Fourth Degree. He was also a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother to his family. He was an inspiration to the many lives he touched. He will be immensely missed by all who loved him.
George was preceded in death by his parents, and two grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan Martin. He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Carol Saksa Stratton; sons, Kenneth Stratton and wife Crystal of Hendersonville, NC, and Timothy Stratton and wife Amanda of Summerfield, NC and daughter Sharon Martin and husband Randy of Morganton, NC; sister Mary Galanek and husband Charles of Stratford, CT; three grandchildren, Emily Stratton, Tyler Martin, and Katie Stratton; and nieces and nephews including Barbara, Chuck, Jamie and Steven.
The family visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2008 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A rosary will be held at 7:00 pm.
The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Ennever and the staff at Moses Cone Regional Cancer Center. They would also like to express their gratitude to the medical staff involved in his care during his extended hospital stay at both Moses Cone and Wesley Long Hospitals.
Flowers are welcome, and memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church 2205 W. Market Street or to the Moses Cone Regional Cancer Center.
