Gloria Farnell Cowan

Gloria Farnell Cowan died Sunday July 29, 2012. A burial service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Wednesday August 1, 2012 at 1:00. A memorial service will follow in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church at 2:00. The family will greet friends following the church service in the Virginia Gilmer Room.

Gloria was born on January 28, 1931, in Greensboro. She was the daughter of Lula Moore Suttle Farnell and Daniel Newton Farnell, Jr.

Gloria graduated from Greensboro Senior High School, St. Mary’s Junior College, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was a Trustee, Elder, and Deacon.

Gloria is survived by her four children, Farnell Cowan Holton and her husband Rick; Betsy Cowan Hicks and her husband Lawrence; John Columbus Cowan IV and his special friend Kathy Norris; Daniel Newton Farnell Cowan and his wife Carrie. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Haynes Cowan Hicks, Perry Christian Hicks, Mary McAfee Cowan, and Eloise Farnell Cowan.
