

Ms. Saunders was born in Columbus County, NC, the daughter of Helen White Watson and Arthur Watson.
Ms. Saunders retired from Avon Products Inc. as District Manager and achieved the Circle of Excellence. She was a devoted member of Guilford Baptist Church for 47 years and was honored to be ordained the first woman deacon. She was well loved for her helping hands, giving spirit, and loving heart. Ms. Saunders was an early champion for equal rights for women in the workplace, voting and education.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sherman Saunders; son, Colin Saunders and grandson, Jay Hancock. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Wanda Hancock and Revauda Lurey and husband Edward, all of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Beverly Webster and husband Lee, Darla Parker and husband Steve, Deana Adams and husband Rick, Gracey King and husband Brandon and John Saunders and wife Ashlie; six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
