Mr. Hugh I. “H.I.” Brown, Jr., 83, of Jamestown, went to Heaven on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Clapp’s Nursing Center.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, 2:00 p.m., at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel by Rev. Dr. Timothy Porter. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
Hugh was born February 20, 1929 in High Point, the son of Hugh I. Brown and Charlotte Elizabeth Brown Stancil, who preceded him in death.
Hugh was a kind, compassionate, loving person. He was a wonderful husband and father and will be greatly missed. His smile was contagious and there was always a twinkle in his eyes. Hugh was a veteran of the US Army and was employed by Amos Hosiery for 43 years until it closed. He continued to work as long as he could. Hugh was an avid fisherman for many years who loved the outdoors and animals. His talents were many. Our loss is Heaven’s gain.
Surviving are his wife Lois; daughter, Vicki Yarborough and husband Jimmy of Greensboro; son, Danny Brown of Wallburg; sister, Louise “Pete” Brown of Thomasville, step-sister, Cora Billips of High Point; grandchildren, Jake, Jason, Derek and Josh.
Friends will be received Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
The family extends their appreciation to Robin and the staff of Clapp’s for the wonderful care given to Hugh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220 or to the charity of your choice.
