Jack was born in Fort Collins, CO on August 2, 1936 to the late Ralph and Charlotte Forsythe. Jack attended Boulder High School where he was a member of ROTC and the Marines before going on to Colorado State University where he received his B.S. in Entomology. He began working for Ciba-Geigy in 1961. While working he obtained his Masters in Business Administration from Bridgeport University. Jack was a dedicated employee for 31 years before retiring. His career with Ciba-Geigy took him to Kansas City, MO; Yonkers, NY; Peekskill, NY and Newtown, CT before they settled in Greensboro, NC. He also spent a year in Basel, Switzerland accompanied by his wife and daughter. He admired his colleagues and considered them family.
Jack spent his life as a devoted servant of the Lord. He served as a Boy Scout leader, youth group leader, and basketball coach for many years. He was involved with the Guilford County School Board where he was an advocate for Magnet and Choice Schools. He and his wife, Sara, coordinated meals for Hope’s Kitchen and participated with the Good News Club at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church in North Myrtle Beach for 8 years.
Jack had a love for travel that took him on many adventures around the world. He spent his spare time keeping up with sporting events and reading. His greatest joy was following the interests of his children and grandchildren, whether it was learning hockey, timing at swim meets, or being a cheerleader on the sidelines. When Jack wasn’t cheering at events he was often asking his family “What’s the plan?” whether it was a college decision or about raising a family.
Jack was predeceased by his parents Ralph & Charlotte Forsythe, and granddaughter Jaclyn Allsbrook Tedder.
Jack is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sara Forsythe, and 5 children, Randy Forysthe, Jeff Forsythe (Sarah), Dana McGraw (Chris), Gina Tedder (Mark), Beth Griggs (Bob). Jack was proud to be an American and always ended his blessings with “God Bless the U.S.A”. Any time Jack was asked how he was he would say “I’m wonderful”, and he was wonderful. Jack will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, passionate grandfather, and reliable friend.
Services will be held at Jamestown United Methodist Church in Jamestown, NC on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends following the services. Jack will be inurned in the church columbarium.
