Jimmie was a simple man. He simply loved God, Family and country. Jimmie was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was born in Siler City, NC. As a young man, Jimmie enjoyed playing American Legion baseball. In his senior high year book under his picture it reads ”It’s nice to be natural when you’re naturally nice.” This fact never changed.
Jimmie met the love of his life, Shirley on a blind date. Shortly after returning from the Army they married. After nearly 58 years and numerous health issues their love grew stronger. For almost 50 years he worked as a barber at the Imperial Barber Shop at Guilford College. Twenty of those years, he worked with his son Michael. He laughed, he listened, and he loved. His two children were blessed with a man of few words who showed Christ’s love in all he did. The grandchildren were taught to enjoy the simple things; checkers, bingo, playing catch, of just sitting next to Papa watching T.V. All those times will be cherished.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene, Paul, Donald and sister, Evelyn Thompson. Surviving are his loving wife, Shirley Collins Beane; daughter, Deborah Beane; son , Michael Beane and wife Julie; grandsons, Matthew and Johnathon Beane, all of Greensboro, NC; brother, Dwight Beane Sr. (Rachel) of Siler City, NC; sisters, Nancy Burke(Carroll) of Siler City, NC and Myrtle Stephens of Charlotte, NC.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 2:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with burial to follow with full military rites at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the doctors and staff at Wesley Long Hospital and Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for the care and kindness given to Jimmie.
Jimmie, you will forever be missed. You will never be forgotten. Thank you for a job well done.
