A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, October 10, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4145 Johnson Street, High Point. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 West Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro.
James was born February 15, 1954, in Bristol, Tennessee, son of the late James Ellis Leonard, Sr. and Maxine Fleenor Leonard. He was a devoted member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. James received his BS degree and was an IT analyst with Guilford County Schools. He enjoyed everything computers and was into science fiction and genealogy.
James’ personality and character with his humor were contagious and he touched everyone he encountered. He was very loved globally by everyone he met, especially his extended family by marriage who considered him a son, brother, uncle, and a friend. They are mourning him as much as his beloved wife and daughter as well as his family by marriage and some extended family in the US.
He was a devoted father who spent every free moment of his life with his lovely daughter Aliki Leonard. His immediate family, wife Rita and daughter Aliki, meant the world to him.
Mr. Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Rita Zaher Leonard; daughter, Aliki Elise Leonard; brother-in-law/brother Samir Zaher and wife, Majida and uncle Curtis Fleenor and wife, Chris. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and many loving extended family in Nazareth, Israel.
For those who wish to pay their respects may do so Friday, October 9 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church in the Gathering Space.
