James Richard "Dick" Kennedy

James Richard “Dick” Kennedy, 87, a resident of Greensboro went home to Jesus on Friday June 10, 2022. He was born June 19, 1934 in Rockingham the son of the late James Troy and Johnsie Jenkins Kennedy.

Dick went to Greensboro High School (Grimsley High School) and married Doris Oldham. He worked for 41 years beginning with Western Electric, then Lucent Technology and finally as it became AT&T.

Dick remarried to Nancy Whitson Kennedy who preceded him in death on October 6, 2017.

Children surviving are his son, James Richard “Rick” Kennedy, Jr. of Greensboro, Tammy Steelman, Kenny Steelman and wife Rhonda; brother, Charles Kennedy of Palm City, FL; grandchildren, Brittany Steelman, Hannah Steelman, Heather Stevenson, Gerrard Le’Gette and great grandchildren Rory Stevenson, Cooper Steelman, Ruby Stevenson, Emery Stevenson and Mason Vierheller.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday June 23, 2022 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Reverend Marshall Benbow. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
