

John Donald Bingaman, 80, died peacefully in Greensboro, NC, on December 25, 2014. JD was a native of Harrisburg and lived there until moving to North Carolina in 2012. John was born on Nov 2,1934, to George and Blanche Bingaman of Oberlin.
He was a US Army veteran, having served in the 85th Field Artillery Battery in Germany during 1954-56. He was a Specialist assigned to the “Honest John” rocket, a pioneering guided missile instrumental in establishing military superiority in Europe during the Cold War.
John worked for 44 years for UGI as a gas serviceman. He was a 50-year member and trustee of 29th Street United Methodist Church. He was a mason.
He is survived by Florence, his wife of 58 years; daughter Jodi and husband Doug of Greensboro, NC; son Jeffrey and wife Edie of Dennisville, New Jersey; granddaughters Ashley, Emily, Melissa, Jessica; grandson Joshua; and great-grandson Jack.
A lunch will be held for family and friends at noon on Friday, January 2, at 29th Street United Methodist Church in Harrisburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.
There was a Celebration of Life Service for JD held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Adams Farm Community Church in Greensboro, NC officiated by Pastor Erwin Threatt
