John L. Roberson

John Lawrence “JL” Roberson of Greensboro went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior, September 18, 2017. He was the son of the late Philip and Sallie Roberson. He was also preceded in death by his sister Faye Hale and his brother Jack Graham Roberson.

JL is survived by his cherished wife of 60 years, Ruthie; two sons Larry (Margaret) and Mark (Michelle); He was the proud pawpaw of four grandchildren Philip (Julia), Morgan, Abby and John. He has four surviving sisters Ruth Thompson (RC), Delores Harrelson, Martha Lanning (James) and Marie Kimel and a large loving extended family.

JL retired from Lincoln Financial after 39 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the US navy.

JL's faith in Jesus was witnessed by all who knew him. A long life member of Glenwood United Methodist Church, he worshiped the Lord in teaching, singing in the chorus and many leadership roles. He continued his love for the Lord in the Gideon, Yokefellow prison ministry and years delivering food to those in need. His other passion was golf.

He was greatly loved and will be extremely missed.

A Memorial Service to honor JL will be at Glenwood United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. before the service.

A private family interment will held at a later date.
