Keefer Mann Pine passed away on August 19, 2025, at the age of 82, after several months of failing health. Keefer was best known for his love of flowers, plants and breathtaking gardens. He would often walk his children and grandchildren through the winding trails of his beautiful gardens, explaining each plant and flower in great detail. He was also known for his love of growing tomatoes. Keefer would grow buckets full and loved to share them with friends and family, especially with his daughter, Karen, who lived next door. His yard and gardens were definitely his pride and joy!
Keefer was born on August 1, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland to Robert Lee and Wilma May Pine, both deceased. However, since the age of eight and along with his oldest brother, he was raised by his loving grandparents, Clyde and Rosa Lee Dixon, both deceased. Keefer is preceded in death by his wife, Sue, his younger brother, Sam Pine, and his oldest brother, Bobby Pine. He is survived by his daughters Kimberly Pine Robinson (Eric) and Karen Pine Thompson (Jimmy). He is also survived by four loving grandchildren, Ashley Robinson (Taylor), Brandon Thompson, Ryan Thompson (Monica) and Logan Robinson and by five great grandchildren, Owen, Price, Davis, Bodie and Evelyn. In addition, he is survived by one sister, Rosa Ray (Rick) of Florida.
Keefer was a graduate of Pleasant Garden High School. He met his wife, Sue, at the age of 14 and married her at the age of 18. Keefer worked his entire adult life at John H. Harland Printing Company, retiring as a supervisor in his mid-50’s. After retirement, Keefer and Sue traveled all over the United States. They also loved to take cruises, with their friends, to multiple Caribbean Islands. In addition, Keefer used to enjoy his yearly flounder fishing trips with his closest buddies.
Keefer was truly a family man, with much love for his wife, children and grandchildren. This included his two son-in-laws, who he truly treated as his own. He was a protector, a teacher of life, a man of morals and strength. He took a lot of pride in teaching his daughters to be strong, to be hardworking and to be self-supportive. These gifts will live on with them forever. Keefer had so much love for his grandchildren as well. Whether they were just visiting, or yes working a job he had for them, he was just happy to be in their presence.
Keefer will be missed so much on this earth by so many but his life will not go unnoticed. Because of what he has instilled in his children and grandchildren, a part of him will always live on.
A private graveside service, for family and close friends, will be held at Guilford Memorial Cemetery. There, he will be laid to rest with his beautiful wife, Sue. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made in Keefer’s memory to his church, Pleasant Garden Baptist Church, 1415 Neelley Road, Pleasant Garden, NC 27313, where he has been a member for many many years.
