Although Lisa suffered with disabilities from birth, she inspired those around her. She was known to be affectionate and compassionate and had faith in God. She loved listening to music. She remembered with gratitude those who had been kind to her, and spoke fondly about her parents, guardian, caregivers and friends and the things they had done for her.
She became friends with Benetta Hne, one of her caregivers, in around 2010. Over time Lisa and Benetta became very close to the point that they were described as having a mother-daughter relationship. Benetta recalls Lisa’s sense of humor in spite of her disabilities. Lisa spent her final years receiving nutrition through a feeding tube, which she jokingly blamed on her dentist – the dentist should be fired, she said, because otherwise she would have been able to eat normally. But she never complained with seriousness about living with this additional challenge.
Lisa was preceded in death by her loving parents.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 19, at Guilford Memorial Park followed by a gathering at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
