Annie Lois Beck Tate died in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Adams Farm Living & Rehabilitation in Jamestown, NC. She and her twin brother, John Lewis Beck, were born to Annie Lee Lawrence Beck and James Brock “Bud” Beck on 10 February 1911 in Erect in Randolph County, NC. The family moved and she was raised in Hemp (now Robbins, NC) where she attended Elise Academy.
She married Clarence R. Tate in Burlington, NC in 1933 and they moved to South Greensboro in 1934. She and Clarence moved to 306 Longview Street in 1956. Her sisters, Edith B. Quick, Bonnie B. Liebeck, and Billie Gay B. Kater all died before her as did her brothers, Walter Lyndon Beck and her twin brother, John Lewis Beck.
She was employed as a folder in hosiery mills. Thereafter, she was employed as a sales clerk at Belks on Jefferson Square in Better Dresses. She retired after twenty years of service with numerous sales awards.
She and Clarence were both Presbyterians.
She is survived by her son, C. Richard, Tate, Jr., and his wife, Dorothy S. Tate, of High Point, NC and the following grandchildren: Buck M. Tate of Lake Mary, Florida, Lisa Ann Tate, Sarah T. Warren and husband, Richard M. Warren, Jr., Beth Tate Hondros and husband, Nick A. Hondros., all of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Rd., Greensboro, NC 27407 conducted by Reverend Gene Booker. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
