Lucy M. Smith completed her life’s journey on October 20th. She was born in Dublin, Virginia on November 29, 1923, the13th child of a tenant farmer. In high school she played basketball and won a jitterbug dance contest. She worked in a shipyard and served in the Women’s Army Corp during World War II. She was an avid Bridge player and a fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Her favorite President was Harry Truman. She was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Greensboro for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard B. Smith and their infant daughter Margaret. She is survived by her son Richard A. Smith ( Louann) of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, her daughter Donna Herr (Steve) of Greensboro, her grandchildren Icie Lankford (Derrick) , Nick Herr (Martha) and Rosemary Rebollo (Efren), and great-grandchildren Elle, Zack, Vale and Ernesto.
