Lynda Morillo Hord, raised in Charleston, South Carolina, was born November 14th, 1941. She was the youngest of three children born to Ralph Louis Morillo and Alma Harriet Dixon. She graduated from Coker College in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree. As a young woman she thrived in a diverse world of interests from majorette squads and madrigal singing groups to women’s basketball and student government.
Her energetic personality, helping-spirit, creative intelligence, and commitment to excellence drew her into a variety of professional fields where she enthusiastically contributed as a business education teacher, a bookkeeper, an interior decorator, and a financial analyst. She balanced a full-time career while also being an exceptional mother to her three children and a loyal, loving wife to her husband, Dick, of 55 years. Her career culminated with her retirement from the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC.
Also in Greensboro, she was a loyal and active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church for over 40 years, faithfully singing in the choir most of those years. She was known for her boisterous laugh, witty sense of humor, and outgoing love of people. She was an excellent cook and immensely enjoyed hosting time for family and friends to be together.
She is survived by her children, Steed Hord (Rebecca), David Hord (Amy), and Jennifer Hord Reda (Adam). Also surviving are five grandchildren; Zachary, Tucker, Elias, Bridget, Levi; and 2 great grandchildren, Tash and Atayo. Also included are beloved niece, Beth Smith (David) and nephews, Stephen Morillo (Lynn) and John Morillo (Andrea).
