Margaret Alexander (Schenck) Pearl passed away peacefully at her home in Savannah, Georgia, on April 10, 2026, with her husband and daughter by her side. Her final weeks were a beautiful testament to a life well-lived, marked by the celebration of her 50th wedding anniversary on March 27, and her 80th birthday just the day before she passed.
Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, to the late Paul W. Schenck, Jr. and Virginia Sawyer Schenck, Margaret grew up as an active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and graduated from Page High School. High-spirited and adventurous, she even followed in her father’s footsteps by earning her pilot’s license.
After attending Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC, Margaret began a career in real estate that eventually led her to Atlanta. It was there she sold a home to a young Georgia Tech graduate named Ron Pearl. The two were married within six months, beginning a beautiful 50-year journey. They settled in Roswell, Georgia, where they raised their family and built deep community roots over the next 25 years.
Margaret was a woman of unwavering Christian faith, known for her confidence, warmth, and dedication to others. While she was a devoted wife and mother, her sense of family extended to everyone she met. Her commitment to service spanned over 20 years through the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Junior League. In 1983, she co-founded the Chattahoochee Cotillion Club, mentoring young women in North Fulton County in etiquette and the importance of community volunteerism. She also had a deep love for tennis and could be found playing regularly with friends.
One of Margaret’s greatest passions was landscape design and gardening. She truly loved getting her hands in the dirt and reaping the rewards of her hard labor. Her garden was a sanctuary of bountiful blooms, fruits, and vegetables that invited a vibrant array of birds and butterflies. She was most often found walking through her backyard among her azaleas, which were one of her most treasured plants. In honor of her love for nature, trees will be planted in her memory through the Arbor Day Foundation in areas of greatest need.
Margaret is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald G. Pearl; her daughter, Juliet A. Pearl; her brother, Paul W. (Gail) Schenck III; her sister, Ginni (Al) Schenck Lineberry; her sister-in-law, Margaret Cates Schenck; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
