Margaret Anderson Harris

Mrs. Harris was born April 17, 1928 in Winston-Salem, NC, the daughter of Samuel Avery and Ina Roberts Anderson.

She was a graduate of Mocksville High School and attended Draughan’s Business College in Winston-Salem. Margaret was retired from the Internal Revenue Service.

“Margaret was a square dancing enthusiast and avid reader most of her life. Margaret was a lifelong Democrat and vocal supporter of liberal causes, especially social justice and racial equality. She was an open minded person who rejected intolerance.”

Margaret was married to Ernest Lee Harris, Sr. who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children, Karen Harris Silver and husband Douglas of Palm Bay, FL, Lee Harris and wife Sharon of Tuscon, AZ, Robin Harris Coomes of Greensboro; grandchildren, Christopher Kirkman and wife Cindy, Stephanie Kirkman Williams and husband Todd, Matthew Kirkman, Ernie Harris and wife Ashley, Michael Coomes and great grandchildren, Alexis Kirkman, Carolyn Kirkman and Evelyn Rose Harris.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Ed Armfield . Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until service time.
