Margaret Oakes King, 85, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Moses Cone Hospital. She was born on June 15, 1933 in Loudon County, TN, the daughter of Elmer B. and Hula Barr Oakes. She worked as an Administrative Assistant with the Rexham Corp. Margaret was a member of Westover Church. She loved music, bird watching, and gardening. Margaret was a lifelong learner. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She will be deeply missed.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, William B. King of the home; children, Rev. Steve King (Paula) of High Point, NC, Sondra Vaughn (Robert) Germanton, NC, Kristin Rouse (Rodney) of Madison, NC; brother, Charles Oakes of Athens, TN and nine granddaughters and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, 2:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with Rev. Bob Voorhees officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
