Marilyn Peeples Hatcher was born in Greensboro, NC in 1951 and passed away July 7, 2023 at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her family. Her life will be celebrated on Friday, July, 14, 2023, at 2 PM, at Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Chapel, officiated by Pastor Steve Rowe. Marilyn will be interred following the service in Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
In addition to her parents, Raymond and Dainie Howerton Peeples, her sister, Judy Hare and niece, Tracie Peeples preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty one years, Daniel Hatcher of the home; son, John Hatcher of the home; daughter, Mary Jane (Eli) Velliquette and grandson, Maddox Velliquette of Reidsville; brother, Bill Peeples of Burlington; and sisters, Wilma Ward of McLeansville and Donna (Joe Sr.) Granieri of FL and several nieces and nephews.
After graduating from South East Guilford High School in 1969 Marilyn began her fifty one year career at Blue Bell (Wrangler, VF and now Kontoor). She was an extremely dedicated employee with a perfect attendance record. It’s reported that she was always the first to arrive in the morning. Marilyn was a country girl through and through and the two constants in her life were her faith in Jesus and her commitment to her family. She never let a day pass without talking to her family several times. She loved her grandson, Maddox and shared the best times and talks riding in the car together. Marilyn had a kind and giving heart and loved to care for others. She was an awesome cook and her specialty was white wine pound cake.
