A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 4, at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Service, in the Lineberry Center, 515 North Elm Street, with Rev. Joe Chandler officiating. Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, 901 Wharton Street.
Marion was born in Greensboro, NC and graduated from Rankin High School. She attended Kings Business College and later worked for HUD, Housing Urban Development, at the Internal Revenue Service.
Marion was a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was always sharing her faith and encouraged others.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Self was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, who passed in 2011, Crawford A. Self, Jr. and her brothers, Thurman and Charles Barbour. She is survived by her son, Patrick Self; grandson, Brian Self; great granddaughter, Haylee Elizabeth Self, and sister, Oletha Springer.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
