Nancy Lee Williams, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 21, 2025 after a sudden illness. Nancy was surrounded by loved ones, and in the wonderful medical care of those at Wesley Long hospital, at the time of her passing. Nancy was the daughter of Lawson and Louise Emerson and she was born in Greensboro, NC on Feb 23, 1936.
Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She met the love of her life and husband, Fred Clayton “Tommy” Williams, in her teenage years while she and parents were vacationing at Carolina Beach. Nancy and Fred were married for 67 wonderful years. They loved life together while spending time at the beach, square dancing and just being together as husband and wife. A wonderful cook, she always had a special “gravy” during the family Christmas and Thanksgiving celebrations.
Nancy was wonderful and giving person who loved crocheting. She used this passion and her caring heart, crocheting hundreds of lap blankets in which she would give to nursing homes, hospice care facilities and the patients at Wesley Long Cancer Center…helping warm those going through treatments and difficult times. As a result of this kindness and giving ways, Nancy won “Diamond of the Month” from TV News 2, a wonderful tribute for her dedicated devotion.
Nancy spoke to how much she loved her husband, family and friends. She wanted so much to tell everyone she knew how much they meant to her, especially her friends Helen Levens, Kay Omen, and Jane Shoffner.
Nancy is survived by her husband Fred, sons Jeff and wife Angela, Jerry and wife Guenevere, Alan and wife Sunny, daughter Sharon and husband “Charlie”, grandchildren, Kelsey, Kendal, Maya, Jonah, Hunter, one great grandchild Everett, and her twin brother Robert (Bobby) Emerson.
The family would like to thank Beth Ann Harrington and all those at Hanes-Lineberry for their compassionate and caring help during this difficult time. The family will have a private ceremony with a celebration of life at a later date. The family asks, if you would like, to share a memory on the Hanes-Lineberry web page and make a donation to your church or favorite charity in memory of Nancy.
