Greensboro….
Mrs. Nita Pauline Ingram Dalton, 90, of Greensboro, departed from this life on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at her home, surrounded by loving family.
“Polly” was born July 6, 1921, in Mooresville, NC, to the late Lillie Jane Lee and Rockwell Ingram. Polly spent her youth on a Pleasant Garden farm before moving with her family to Greensboro. She worked for Silver’s Nickel & Dime and Bluebell Hosiery Mill as a young woman and for Marc Inc., after rearing her family. During World War II, she lived in Denver, Colorado, while her husband Jack, was stationed there. She lived the remainder of her life in Greensboro. Polly especially enjoyed the time she spent with her husband and children living on Independence Road in Kirkwood. She was an active participant in the formation of the original 1950’s Kirkwood Fourth of July Parade. Polly’s most rewarding accomplishment was her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She loved being a homemaker, taking care of her family, and babysitting her grandchildren. Polly enjoyed beach trips, gardening, and cooking southern- style meals. Her lifelong ambitions were to send her three children to college and to build and enjoy a family beach cottage. She succeeded in both of these dreams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Dalton; her parents; her brothers, Edgar, Alton, and Robert; and her sisters, Myrtle Miller and Margie Page.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Pamela D. Bunton and husband Tom, and Patricia D. Huffman; son, Paul W. Dalton and wife Faye; grandchildren, Christopher K. Scott, Kimberly J. Huffman, and Laura R. Huffman; sisters, Laura Lewis and Mary Cates and husband David; and brother, Albert Ingram and wife Carolyn.
She will be deeply missed for her sweet disposition, kindness, selflessness, creativity, and her sparkling wit.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday evening, April 24, 2012, at Hanes-Lineberry North Elm St. Chapel and other times at Polly’s home.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at 3:00 pm at Westminster Gardens Cemetery, with Chaplain Beverly Isley Landreth officiating. Following the committal service, a reception will be held at Polly’s home.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for the compassionate care they provided, especially to Therese Bacon, Melanie Fuqua, Beverly Isley Landreth, and Jill Dull.
Flowers are welcomed at the funeral home or memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave. Greensboro, NC 27405.
