

Greensboro, NC: Pamela Metcalf Highsmith, 66, passed away at her home Saturday, January 15, 2011. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at W, Market St. United Methodist Church and burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Tuesday at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St Funeral Home.
Pam grew up in Winston-Salem but was a native of Oklahoma and the daughter of the late Hugh and Volita Patrick Metcalf. The family lived in New York City and New Jersey before moving to Winston-Salem. While attending Wake Forest University she met her husband to-be Jerry M. Highsmith. They were married March 6, 1965. She worked as a legal secretary and Assistant Office Manager at Smith, Moore, Smith, Schell, and Hunter law firm for the first 14 years they were married.
She was a member of W. Market St. United Methodist Church, the Junior League and volunteered at assisted living centers. Pam was a rock for her parents in their last days. She loved reading, needle work, sewing, as well as traveling with Jerry. Her support of Jerry in his career was immeasurable.
Among her survivors are her husband Jerry; brother, David Metcalf and his wife Gayle of Decatur AL; nephew, Spencer Metcalf of Destin FL; mother-in-law Louise Highsmith, Winston-Salem, NC; brother-in-law, Stuart Highsmith and his wife Mary of Jonesville, NC; neices, Nichole and husband Robert Malpeli, Alpharetta, GA; Emily Highsmith, Raleigh NC; nephews, Andy and wife Kate Highsmith, Concord, NC; and Blair and wife Marissa Highsmith, Cary, NC
