

Peggy Jones Woods, 85, of 1605 Sharpe Road died peacefully Monday, July 25th at Clapp’s Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden, NC with her loving family by her side. Peggy died after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. Funeral services will be held at Mount Hope United Church of Christ, Wednesday at 11:00am with the Rev J. Lloyd Spencer officiating. Burial will follow the service at the church cemetery.
Peggy was born in Greensboro to the late Kecler and Georgia Jones on May, 13, 1926. She graduated from Alamance High School and Kings Business College in Greensboro. She excelled in all of her work endeavors. Peggy was office secretary at the former Guilford Randolph Area Girl Scout Council for 15 years, retiring to raise a family. She always enjoyed working during the holidays at Bryan Wagoner’s Christmas tree lot for 22 years where she met so many nice people and made numerous friends. Later she was employed at Troxlers Bridal shop for a number of years as a salesperson. Peggy was also a very caring private sitter for a wonderful lady, Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson at Friends Home West. She and her mother Georgia were well known for their catering of weddings and other events featuring her mother’s cakes and Peg’s specialty cheese straws. For a number of years she drove their truck in her husband’s business. One of the events that she enjoyed very much as being a senior citizen walker with the Early Bird Carolina Circle Mall walkers for many years where she made many friends.
She was a true believer in Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she professed her faith through many acts of kindness and generosity to others.
Peg was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and neighbor. She was married to her loving and devoted husband Jim for 54 years whom she met at an airport in Reidsville, NC in 1951. Peggy is survived by her husband Jim and two sons, Brent Woods and wife, Karen of Lenexa, KS and Barry Woods of Raleigh, NC, two wonderful grandsons, Matthew and Ryan of Lenexa, KS, two sisters, Martha E. Shoffner and husband Howard, Patsy Keyser and husband, Bob, sister in law Kay Jones and many nieces and nephews all of whom she loved dearly. Her brother George Jones Jr. passed away in 2010.
The family will receive friends at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, North Elm Street between 6-8 pm on Tuesday, July 26th.
