

Prospero Angiolino, 94, of Greensboro, passed away with family by his side at Beacon Place Hospice Facility on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. He was born in Viggiano, Italy to the late Vicenzo Angiolino and Giuseppina Ielpi. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 11 and settled in New York City. He served with honor during WWII as a member of the Air Force. He worked as a tool and die maker in the manufacturing industry for businesses in both New York and Greensboro. As heritage and faith were important factors in his life, he was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic church for forty years, the Italian American Club, and the Knights of Columbus serving as an honor guard member of the Fourth Degree. Pro enjoyed many years participating in a bowling league in Staten Island NY with his brother in law Artie. He was an avid NY Yankees fan and his favorite all time player was Joe DiMaggio. He spent many hours reading military and historical books and loved listening to Big Band music with his brother in law Eddie. Pro liked to relax with a good glass of red wine while watching his favorite TV show “Mash”. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Dorothy Angiolino, and his children, Robert Angiolino, Deborah Markowski and Vincent Angiolino. Other surviving family members include his son-in-law, Kenneth Markowski; daughter-in-law, Marie Angiolino; four grandchildren, Daniel (Maria Luisa) Markowski, Nicole (Zach) Lund, Christopher Angiolino, and Gabriella Angiolino; and one great-granddaughter, Mara Markowski. He was preceded in death by his five brothers with his only surviving brother, Ernesto (Francis) Angiolino of New Jersey. Other surviving family includes nephews, nieces and cousins. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, April 7th at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Homes on 515 North Elm Street.
