

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, Nov 5 at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 North Elm Street in Greensboro.
Dr. Badawi was born and raised in Egypt. He completed medical school at Cairo University in 1964 and worked for three years in the Merchant Marines.
Between 1967 and 1972, Dr. Badawi pursued his post graduate education in the United Kingdom and became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatry. He immigrated to the United States in 1972 but returned to Egypt briefly in 1973 to marry Isis Youssef. In 1974, he settled in Greensboro, NC where he practiced psychiatry for more than three decades.
Dr. B, as he was called by many, cared deeply about his patients and had an intuitive understanding of their needs. He practiced the art of medicine with unwavering commitment.
Dr. Badawi had many hobbies. In his youth, he was an avid dancer and swimmer. As he grew older, he developed a passion for music, cooking, fishing and gardening.
Above all, the joy of his life were his two children and his family. He often said that his many friends enhanced the meaning of his existence. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister. He is survived by his children, Cherine of Oakland, CA, Christopher of Greensboro, NC, and his former wife Isis, of Abu Dhabi, UAE, as well as his nephews Sherif and Adel Riad.
