Rita June Bailey was born September 17, 1949, to her late parents, George and June. She spent the majority of her childhood with her beloved uncle and aunt, Wayne and Nellie Magruder, who had a major influence on her upbringing and in shaping her life. She was very fond of them all and spoke very highly of her aunt and uncle.
Rita has always been very family-oriented and took much pride and joy in all of her family. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of over fifty years, Dennis Lee Bailey; her children Ashley Harris (Brian), Amanda Bailey, Derrick Bailey (Christina) and Brent Bailey (Erin); her grandchildren, whom she adored, Kestyn Harris, Chandler Harris, Kendall Harris, Mackenlie Flinchum, Allen Bailey, Zachariah Sears, and Benjamin Sears. She has also left behind so many nieces, nephews, relatives, and “adopted children,” who were so loved by her and she thought of as her own.
Rita took great pride in her job as Area Supervisor of Dakota Watch Company for 25 years. She also participated and showed much dedication to the Order of the Eastern Stars since joining the organization in July 1986. It was here that much of her talent and passion for event planning and detail flourished and allowed this great talent she possessed to truly shine. She was the currently serving Worthy Matron of Liberty Chapter #66 and served there tirelessly and selflessly.
All who knew Rita are aware of her special ability to orchestrate any event with grace, efficiency, and amazing attention to detail and learned quickly her motto, “The smallest touches are what matters the most!”
She had a very special way of accepting others as family and always teaching her children that everyone is welcome. She absolutely loved being surrounded by family and friends and encouraged her family to bring in more. She truly loved cooking, helping, and serving others, as nothing brought her greater joy!
Rita was dependent upon God and loved the Lord with her entire heart. She passed her faith on to her family, as well as all who knew her, not only through words but through her life. We are so very sad to say goodbye to such an amazing woman but are comforted knowing she is at peace with loved ones she had dearly missed, but most of all in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will remain on earth and live through all those that she has touched in only a way that she could. We cannot wait to see you again!
The family will be receiving friends and family at Bridge of Hope COGOP on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm, followed by a private memorial and celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one of the following: her family for care of her husband, or charities she supported: OES Grand Chapter Scholarship or Camp Gray Rock.
