Robert Lee Talley, 95, of Greensboro went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Born on August 7, 1929 in Durham, he was the son of the late Angus E. and Lena Talley. In high school Bob was an excellent athlete and competed in the Shriners Bowl for high school students. Following high school and college, Bob served our country in the United States Navy.
Bob was a member of Southeast Baptist Church and had a servant’s heart. He was outgoing, enjoyed helping others, loyal to his family and friends, and was kindhearted. He enjoyed sports, playing golf, and good food.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Talley in 2001.
Bob is survived by his wife, Jean Talley; his son, Doug Talley (Dee) of Liberty; his daughter, Elaine Talley Summers (Billy) of Whitsett; four grandchildren, Ivy Lanier of Brownsburg, IN, Ginny Talley of Charlotte, Amy Summers and Bradley Summers, both of Greensboro; three great grandchildren, Emerson, Auden and Hadley Lanier; and numerous extended family.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 N Elm Street, Greensboro. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 11 am at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham.
