Rosemary Brown Marsicano died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022. She was born on July 9, 1932 in Louisville, KY to James Reedy and Mary Catherine Brown. As the oldest of five girls, she was a teacher to all of her sisters.
In 1940, her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she grew up and had such fond memories at Ponte Vedra beach. Rosemary graduated from Saint Elizabeth University in Morristown, NJ in 1954. She taught Home Economics at Assumption Catholic School in Jacksonville, FL and took graduate courses at the University of Florida in Gainesville. She was President of Jacksonville Catholic Youth Organization. She married John Marsicano in 1958 and they moved to Albany, NY. They transferred to Richmond, VA in 1960 and to Greensboro, NC in 1974, where they raised their five children.
Rosemary was a long-time member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, the Past President of the Greensboro Area Council of Catholic Women, a Member of the Greensboro Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, and the Treasurer of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Women’s Club.
Rosemary put her faith and family first all throughout her life. She enjoyed playing the piano and watching the Laurence Welk Show and classic movies of old Hollywood. Summer vacations in Florida and the Outer Banks also made for wonderful family memories.
She was the devoted wife of 63 years to John Joseph Marsicano and loving mother of Reedy Marsicano, Mary Frances (Steve) Melink, Joan Whitacre, Marilyn (Gene) Clements and Jean (Jason) Hartshorn. She was a caring grandmother to Matt, Monica, William, Katie, Allison, Lauren, Laura and Ava and a great grandmother to Cameron. Rosemary also leaves behind her sisters, Ellen Emerson, Barbara Duffy, Catherine Monahan, and Elizabeth (Dan) Haynes and many nieces and nephews. Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents, James Reedy and Mary Catherine Brown.
The family would like to extend our profound gratitude to the doctors, nurses and caring staff in Greensboro, especially those at Spring Arbor Senior Living for the excellent care they provided.
