Ruby May Vaughan, 91, a resident of Greensboro and former resident of Durham passed away on Wednesday July 24, 2024 at Moses H. Cone Hospital. She was born March 11, 1933 in Davidson County, the daughter of Claude R. and Minnie Viola May Heathcock Morrison.
Ruby owned and operated for several years a Curb Market in Durham. She was a member of Calvary Holiness Church.
She was married to Lloyd Vaughan who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert “Rocky” Smith; her sister; Cleo Snow; an unnamed infant brother, another brother, Gilmer Morrison; five grandchildren, Rosemary Renae Deacon, Misty Gayle Smith, Jeremiah Daniel Smith, James Lee Smith, Carrie Beth Suttles and Mary Leigh Hunt and four great grandchildren, Dylan Smith, Zachary Smith, Ricky Suttles, Hannah Suttles and one great great grandchild, Talia Savannah Oakes.
Ruby is survived by two daughters, Betty Lee Smith of Greensboro, Rosemary Evans of Greensboro; two sons; Toney Lee Smith (Shelia Kennedy) of Greensboro, Rodney Franklin Smith (Andrea) of Gibsonville; 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday July 30, 2024 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Pastor Mark Hurt. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
