Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Andrews Memorial Baptist Church 2811 Lees Chapel Rd. Brown Summit, NC 27214. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 pm on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel in Greensboro.
Russell was born February 3, 1943 in Guilford County to the late Vincent Leo Murphy and Viola Lee Temples Murphy. He was a member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church and The American Legion post #386. Russell served in the United States Navy from 1963 until 1969 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving two tours in Vietnam. He was a OTR Long-Distance Truck Driver before working security for The Budd Group and Guardsmark.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 37 years, Faye Snead Murphy; two sons, Steven Patrick Murphy (Natalia) and Michael Vincent Murphy; step-son, Dennis “Aaron” James (Rebecca); grandchildren, Micheleigh, Samantha, Addison, Austin, Phillip, Autumn, Lauren, and Junior.
