She was dear. Warm, loving, and compassionate. Ruthie is my cousin and my blood. Please God rest her soul.

I feel very blessed to have known Ruth for the past 25 years.  Her positive outlook through rough times was always an inspiration. I will never forget the hours we spent on the phone talking and laughing until tears streamed down our faces.  She would find humor where many would never tread.  She also possessed a desire to reach out and help others.  I'm thankful for the times she reached out to me, offering her heart and her prayers.  I shall miss you dear, sweet Ruth!

"Ruth was one of the funniest people I have ever known.  We met almost twenty years ago while working at the eye center.  She had the gift of laughter  and a very sly sense of humor that I related to so much.  We were both single parents at the time and very busy, but Ruth always carved out time to do fun things with the kids. She coached my daughter in softball and was always seeking little adventures to do with her children like camping and going to the mountains.  Through all her struggles, her heart remained open and she felt so blessed. And in the end, it is l that am fortunate to have know such a creative and inspiring person  But her greatest love, and her legacy are her beautiful children, Stephanie and Joey.  Her eyes sparkled so much when she talked about them. She will be missed.

Ruth and I were friends for about 45 years.  Miles separated us, but we always stayed in touch.  I am so grateful that the "Leary Family Reunion" was in NY in 2009. It was the first time we'd seen each other in 20 years. We spent some great time together...we had so much fun visiting old Elizabeth St. School and many other places that Ruth hadn't seen in years but remembered so well.  
As fate would have it,in 2010 our daughter started grad school at Wake Forest, so almost every time we've visited,we've met up with Ruth for some crazy, fun times.  
Ruth cherished Stephanie and Joey, she loved her family, she loved life.  Despite her trials, she was always upbeat and happy and so much fun to be with; her positive attitude was infectious!
Her long letters-full of hilarious observations on her life... the long phone calls that always left me happy and smiling-- have been part of my life for 45 years; I will dearly miss them, and I will miss her.
My sympathies to Stephanie, Joey and all the Leary family. My thoughts are will you all, and hope you will be comforted by happy memories.
