

Cassandra Gay Brooks, known to everyone as Sandy, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 20, 2016. She died unexpectedly at 48 years old. Sandy was devoted to her Lord and her family. She was a joyful member of Christ Way Church and a beloved caregiver and companion to her parents. She died peacefully at home.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 23 at Christ Way Church at 4401 Sumner Church Road in Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Thursday evening at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel.
Sandy was born in Greensboro on January 19, 1968 to John and Dorothy Brooks. From birth, she suffered from a severe form of epilepsy and battled her entire life to overcome the effects of the disease. She graduated from Southern Guilford High School in 1987 and attended GTCC. She cherished serving the Lord and enjoyed spending time with her family. Her favorite place was church, one of her favorite things to do was to cross stitch Bible covers for fellow members. Sandy was cheerful in all weather and loved to laugh, especially when telling stories with her brothers.
Sandy is survived by her mother, Dorothy Brooks; brothers Glen (Donna) of Randleman, Greg (DeAnne) of Greensboro, Geof (Jenny) of Randleman; nieces Dana, Chelsea, Haven, Heidi; and nephews Jay, Connor, Cole, John, and Ben Brooks. She was very close to her Aunt and Uncle Marilyn and Nick Swinson of Mayodan. Sandy was preceded in death by her father John C. Brooks, Jr.
