The family will receive friends and loved ones on Monday, January 2, 2023 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407 from 6:00 until 9:00 pm to celebrate her life.
Sharon was born and raised in Greensboro, NC on June 1, 1955. She was the third child of five. After graduation from Ragsdale High School in 1973, she began her career with Guilford County in the purchasing department. She retired from Guilford County after 30 years of service.
She was blessed to have a large family. When Sharon married her husband of over 18 years, she became part of a ready-made family of four children. Her love for travel lead to spending many summers at the beach with family and friends. Nothing brought her more joy than watching the children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews grow up. She often said there was no sweeter sound than a child’s laughter. She also enjoyed Duke basketball, movies, shopping and never walked away from a good political debate.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Ingold; mother, Mildred Ingold; husband, Alvin “Butch” Phillips; a daughter, Dawn Phillips; and a sister-in-law, Sandra Ingold.
She is survived by her brother, John Ingold; sisters, Joanne Blake (JD), Debi Snider (Kurt), Teri Cranford (Mark); her children, Wendy Phillips, Mike Phillips (April) and John Phillips. She also had four grandchildren, Megan Morrow (Ethan), Wendy Phillips, Alex Phillips and Ryan Phillips. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren (Cayden and Dempsey) and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her very much.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Greensboro Beautiful or to a Charity of your choice.
