Shelly Ann Shearer, 54, of Greensboro, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022, from complications with diabetes. She was born on April 30, 1968, in Sandusky, Ohio. She was the daughter of Thomas Vincent Shearer and Nancy Burmeister Shearer.
A lifelong lover of cats, she volunteered for Juliet’s House and took care of the cats at PetSmart for a time while she was able. She took in many stray cats and supported spay/neuter causes to reduce the overpopulation of cats in her community in both Havelock, NC and in Greensboro. Shelly was a kind and giving person and took an interest in all the people she encountered along her path. She often went out of her way just to make someone smile or offer encouraging words to make them feel good about themselves. Shelly was always looking for a way to help others, and one would often find her lending a hand to neighbors or helping elderly and disabled people with chores or errands. We will miss Shelly’s quick wit and her quirky humor as well as her infectious laughter. We will remember Shelly for the bright light of compassion that she carried within her. She was the kindest of souls and we are so very grateful for all the love she brought into our lives.
Shelly was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Shearer, her neice, Victoria Cowett, and her partner, Maria Lucus.
In addition to her parents, Shelly is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Ken Adair, her niece, Nicole Adair, and her sister, Betsy Shearer.
