Shirley Louise Whitaker, 86, died Tuesday February 2, 2021 at McLeod Health in Loris, SC. Mrs. Whitaker was born August 26, 1934 in Montgomery County, NC, the daughter of Hoyt Gurney and Fay Etta Moore.
She attended Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown, NC and graduated with a degree in Commercial Art and Advertising Design. She worked as a graphic artist at Harmon Publishing Company in Greensboro, NC until she retired. She was a member of Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. M. Whitaker, and her son, Jeffery Morrison Whitaker.
Surviving are her two daughters, Stacey Rabon of Loris, SC, Laura Kenyon and husband Ed of Conway, SC; brother, Billy Moore of Arizona and three grandchildren, Josh, Rachael and Travis.
Graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 9 at 12:00 p.m. at Guilford Memorial Park conducted by the Reverend Eugene Dean.
