Steven Joshua Maleski, age 50, of Oak Ridge, NC, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 13, 2025. He is survived by his parents, Steve and Aggie Maleski, his brother Brian, and Brian’s children — Owen, Vivienne, and Finn — along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in Iowa, Ohio, Maryland, Michigan, and Florida.
Standing 6’4”, Steven’s physical presence was impressive, but his gentle, kind, generous, and selfless character made him a giant among so many of us. He loved his family deeply, with an inner strength that showed through his actions. He was unpretentious, humble, and accepting of others, always seeking to meet the needs of those around him — whether family, friends, or customers.
A voracious reader, Steven’s interests were wide and passionate — from art and literature to cycling, gourmet cooking, and music. After earning his BFA, he built a career in computer graphics before returning to his love for cycling. As a talented mechanic and craftsman, he owned his own shop and later rejoined Cycles de Oro, where his mastery and dedication earned him great respect as a master mechanic.
His life was a testament of quiet excellence — lived with humility, guided by subtle humor, anchored in love, and remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
A service to celebrate Steven's life will be at 11 AM, Saturday, November 8 at Westover Church in the atrium. The family will receive friends following the service.
