A long-time resident of Greensboro for more than 50 years and an active member of First Presbyterian Church, she served many years as a coordinator for the First Friends Ministry and had the opportunity to serve as a deacon. She was also a member of PEO Chapter J, a longtime member of the Bonne Terre Garden Club and several other organizations.
She is survived by her second husband, Richard Klotz of River Landing, and also by three children: Susan Strand Stanhope of Cary, NC, Andrew B Strand (and wife Mary Fran) of Greensboro, NC, and Stephen M Strand (and wife Tracy) of Cumming, GA; and by four grandchildren: Grace Strand Ricci (and husband Josh) of Winston-Salem, Michelle Stanhope Campbell (and wife Kenzie) of Greensboro, Walter C Strand of Cumming, GA and William M Strand of Cumming, GA; and by her sister, Sara Shelby Rushing (and husband Bill) of Russellville, AL.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I did not know Subette, but I knew Dick. Just know that a lot of people are thinking of you, Dick, and I hope you find comfort in that.

I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. I remember her as being such a sweet lady to me when I was over playing with Susan! I know she will be greatly missed.

Our memories of Subette (AKA Sibi) are of her kindness and love and sweetness, especially towards our daughter, Anna. She always wanted to include Anna in her outings with her granddaughters, Grace and Michelle when they were growing up. 25+ years of witness to a “proper southern lady”. She was loved and will be missed by so many
