The foundation of her life was rooted in her love of Jesus Christ. She worshipped at Christ Covenant Church, Grace Baptist Church and The Refuge. She led her children in Bible verse memorization on morning trips to school and took encouragement from her daily Bible devotions. She retired from Cone Mills as an administrator in the mid- nineties and filled her time during retirement with babysitting her grandchildren and volunteering with the soup kitchen, Lion’s Club and Jaycees. She loved to sing and crochet and visitors to her home were always welcomed with a smile, love and a big hug. Sylvia effortlessly made friends everywhere she went.
She will be missed by her children and their spouses, Paul Mullins (Cecille) of Middlesex, Jerri Atkins (John) of Mayodan, Kerri Humphrey (Shane) of Lexington and Joe Campbell (Tracy) of Greensboro; fourteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; a sister, Nancy; and a niece and nephew. Her oldest child Mark Mullins passed away in 2015.
