Tom was born on October 22, 1949, in Bloomington, Illinois, to M. Paul and Ellen (Klaesener) Julian. He attended Illinois Wesleyan University on a wrestling scholarship and later completed his degree at Illinois State University.
On August 29, 1970, Tom married Catherine Mobeck, in Toluca, Illinois. Shortly afterward, he served in the U.S. Army at a military hospital in Germany. He was joined there by Cathy and their infant son, and together they built the foundation of a family life defined by love and resilience.
Following his military service, Tom returned to Bloomington to complete his education and began a long and dedicated career with the Internal Revenue Service. His work took the family from Moline, Illinois, to Albany, New York, and finally to Greensboro, North Carolina, where he retired and enjoyed his passions: spending time with family, tending his garden, reading and occasionally hitting the golf course.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Cathy; his sons, David Julian of Rock Hill, SC and Nathan (Andrea) Julian of Greensboro, NC; and his four adored grandchildren: Jack, Caden, Liam, and Olivia.
He was one of ten children and is survived by his siblings: Mary Ellen (Mike) Tournai, Elizabeth (Ray) Craig, Richard (Ruth) Julian, Kenneth (Rebecca, deceased) Julian, Daniel (Susan) Julian, Rose (Kerry) Brown, and Patricia (David) Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, James (his surviving widow Margaret) and Robert Julian; and an infant sister, Kathryn.
