It is with great sadness that we announce that Mrs. Virginia Smith Boyd of Greensboro, NC, passed away on February 16, 2026, at the age of 102. She was born in Stoneville, NC, to Henry and Dollie Mae Smith on June 24, 1923.
She left the farm with her husband Pate Boyd and moved to Greensboro where she lived most of her life except for the time she spent at her other beloved home in Fancy Gap, Virginia, which brought her such joy. She loved gardening, her flowers, nature, and cooking. She also loved each of her little doggies.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Fulcher, Rudell Dalton, Ann Kelly and Mittie Mason, and, a brother, Calvin Smith. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and many others who she loved dearly.
She was a woman of great faith, and she would say “It is a heart thing. Always live and love from the heart.”
There will be a service in the mausoleum chapel at Lakeview Memorial Park on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Dennis Willis will be officiating. Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 N. Elm Street, Greensboro, NC, will be assisting.
