Greensboro- Mrs. Waydene Morris Badgett, 92, passed away August 13, at Thomasville Medical Center, after a brief illness. A funeral to celebrate her life will be at 2 PM, Sunday, August 17, at Christ Wesleyan Church in Greensboro with Reverend Jonathan Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall from 12:30 to 1:45 PM prior to the service. Interment will be in Clear Springs UMC Cemetery in Denton.
Waydene was born in Denton to the late Baxter L. and Grace Hill Morris. She was a dedicated employee with Bank of America (formerly Nations Bank) as an administrator for twenty seven years until her retirement in 1987. She married Alexander Cameron Badgett in 1944 and celebrated 54 wonderful years of marriage until his death in 1998. They truly enjoyed one another’s company and spent time traveling all over the country from the mountains to the beach. Waydene’s relationship with Christ was paramount in her life. She loved to attend and participate in church and was a member of Glenwood Methodist for many years and Christ Wesleyan Churches until her death. She particularly enjoyed the Friends & Neighbors program at Christ Wesleyan. It fit right in with her outgoing, friendly and active lifestyle. Any free space in her yard certainly called for a flower to be planted. Her family will remember her caring ways, belief in hard work and her capacity to treat others with kindness and love.
She is survived by her sons, Mike (Carole) Badgett of Greensboro and Rickey Badgett of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren, Laura, Cameron and Travis Badgett; sisters, Edna M. Davis of Denton and Doris M. (Claude) Bullock of Greensboro; former daughter-in-law, Dawn Kukulya; sisters-in-law, Betty and Shirley Morris and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Roy, Wayne, Joe, and Don.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Wesleyan Church, 2400 S Holden Rd, Greensboro, NC 27407 or Greater Piedmont Teen Challenge, PO Box 77914, Greensboro, NC 27417.
