

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, December 6, officiated by Rev. Jill Alventosa-Brown, in the Lineberry Center at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel, 515 North Elm Street, Greensboro. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. To honor Bill and his love for Duke, we will be wearing Duke Blue at his service.
Bill was born March 20, 1940, to the late William John Peters and Bernice Ritchie Peters at Duke Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. He attended Duke University for 3 years and graduated from Guilford College in 1965. After graduation, Bill resided in Rockingham County and was very active in church, Boys Scouts and the Eden Jaycees, serving as chapter president in 1974. A lifelong resident of North Carolina, Bill lived in Durham, Eden, Goldsboro, Wilson and retired in the Triad area to be near his sons and grandchildren. Bill made his family a priority and truly was a large part of both his two sons and his five grandchildren’s lives. He was fun loving and generous and enjoyed an active and full life.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Carol Peters O’Rear; daughter-in-law, Tina Pomeroy Peters and brother, Dr. R. Douglas Peters. He is survived by his wife, Jane Fletcher; sons, Trenton Spann Peters and his wife, Samantha of Midway, William Scott Peters and wife, April of Greensboro and their children, Jason, Alec, Bailey, Andrew and Alysa. Also surviving is sister-in-law, Mary Jane of Jacksonville, Alabama.
