William C. “Bill” Rogers, 87, was called home on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 after a lengthy illness with cancer. “His work on earth was done.” He was born in Charlotte, NC on July 28, 1926 to the late Broadus M and Willie Lee Rogers.
Bill was a member of Grace Baptist Church for 12 years. He served his county in the US Army during WW II from 1942 thru 1947. He loved farming, hunting, fishing and raising cattle. Bill raised fruit and vegetables to share with friends and family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Betty J. Rogers of 64 years; children, Arnold Rogers and wife Faye, Robert Rogers and wife Barbara, Janice Rogers, special family friend Debbie Britt and his dog Abby; four grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters, Dot Price and Elsie Jordon, both of Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by brother Broadus Rogers and sister, Mini Hegler.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 435 NC- 62 Randleman NC . Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family would like to extend a warm and loving thank you to the staff at Beacon Place, Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for their kindness, care and compassion. We also would like to thank the friends and family for their support and love during this time of illness.
