William “W.O.” O. Willard, Jr., 80, passed away on Sunday, Mar. 28, 2010 at Wesley Long Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Friday, 11:00 am at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
W.O. was born in Greensboro, the son of William Oscar Willard, Sr. and Emma Snider Willard. He was employed with Arnold Erection Company, Southern Railways, and Crescent Electrical. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He placed great value in spending time with his family and enjoyed working with his hands. He was an avid bowler and many times could be found in his favorite rocker on his porch.
W.O. was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Ralph Willard; Tula Willard; Roy Willard; and Norma “Jean” Fuller. Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Faye Willard of the home; son Barry Willard and wife Cathy of Greensboro; and his grandchildren, Katie, Emilie and Bailey. Also surviving is his brother, Jess C. Willard, Sr. of Apex, NC.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Friday. After the funeral service, friends may visit at the home of W.O. and Faye Willard.
The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, especially Norma Bennett, Michelle Mason, Nancy Gray; and a very special thanks to his neighbor, Howard Whittington.
