Willie’s husband, Mark Claude Lane, preceded her in death. Her family include her two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Douglas Knowlton and Jeanne and William Parrott. She loved dearly her eight grandchildren and their spouses, Kenna and Phillip Jordan, Erin Cloninger, Rae and Jeremy Zupp, Danielle Parrott, Ryan Cloninger, Brandon and Beverly Parrott, Lane and Angel Cloninger and Mark Parrott. She was further blessed and adored her six great-grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Jordan, William and Michael Zupp and Sloan and Grant Cloninger. She also loved her grand dog, Ziggy. Needless to say, family gatherings were large and, as she was affectionately called, Nini’s presence was a joy and blessing. Her sacrifices to her family were many and never ending.
Willie loved to travel with her friends and did so often. She enjoyed the Carolina beaches as well as many places in the United States.
While in Greensboro, Willie was an active member and volunteer of the First Lutheran Church, where she prepared the weekly bulletin. She was gracious in delivering meals and companionship to those that were home-bound. Willie worked for Burlington Industries before her retirement. She enjoyed cooking and her family continues to cherish the cooking and baking recipes that Willie used.
A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Greensboro at 2 PM, Monday, March 5, 2018. A family reception will follow.
